Rangemaster Kitchen Sinks

Rangemaster Kitchen Sinks

A twenty-five year guarantee on a kitchen sink is an unusual thing to see, and a good part of this range carries one. It is the clearest signal available of what the manufacturer thinks the material will do over a couple of decades of daily use.

Four materials, not two

Most sink ranges give you steel and one alternative. This one covers four. Stainless steel is the largest part and the most forgiving. Ceramic is unusually well represented, fireclay fired hard and glazed to a white that holds for decades. Composite granite covers the colour end.

Igneous is the name Rangemaster give their granite composite, and it is worth being plain about what that means: it is a blend of roughly eighty per cent quartz with acrylic, the same class of material sold as composite granite everywhere else, not something separate. It appears on ranges such as the Paragon, the Amethyst and the Oridian, and it carries the twenty-five year guarantee.

The Belfast range is a strength

Belfast, Farmhouse, Grange, Sandwood and Harmony all appear here in fireclay, single and double bowl, plain and fluted. If the farmhouse look is what brought you, this is one of the deepest selections available anywhere.

They are sit-on sinks, which is the thing to plan for. The bowl rests on its own base unit with the broad glazed face exposed as part of the finished kitchen, so the cabinetry is built around the sink rather than the sink dropped into the cabinetry. Fireclay full of water is a serious load, and any fitter who has worked with the style will expect that.

Conventional fitting, and the MultiMount idea

For a normal worktop, the inset and undermount bowls cover the usual ground, and the MultiMount sinks go further by accepting more than one method. That flexibility lets you leave the mounting decision until the worktop is settled, which removes a constraint from a kitchen still being specified.

Bowl layouts run from single through one and a half to full double, and many of the steel and composite bowls come with an integrated drainer pressed or moulded as part of the same piece.

A Rangemaster tap is the simplest way to get the finishes agreeing, and the rest of what Rangemaster make sits alongside. To compare across manufacturers, the full kitchen sinks range is the place.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the guarantee on a Rangemaster sink?

Much of the range carries twenty-five years from the manufacturer, with others at ten. That is at the top of what any sink maker offers, and it applies by range rather than uniformly, so the individual product page is where to confirm which cover a particular bowl comes with.

What is the difference between Igneous and composite granite?

There is no material difference. Igneous is Rangemaster's brand name for their granite composite, a blend of roughly eighty per cent quartz with acrylic, which is the same class of material sold as composite granite elsewhere. Treat it as a range name rather than a separate material when you are comparing sinks.

Which Rangemaster ranges make Belfast sinks?

Belfast, Farmhouse, Grange, Sandwood and Harmony all appear in fireclay ceramic, in single and double bowl versions, plain-fronted and fluted. They are sit-on sinks, resting on their own base unit with the front face exposed, so the cabinetry needs to be built for them rather than adapted.

What does MultiMount mean on a Rangemaster sink?

That the bowl is made to be fitted more than one way. The same sink can drop in from above or hang beneath a solid worktop, which keeps the mounting decision open until the worktop is chosen rather than fixing it when you order. It is a useful hedge in a kitchen still being specified.

Do Rangemaster sinks come with a drainer?

Many of the steel and composite sinks do, pressed or moulded as one piece with the bowl so there is no seam between them to trap anything. The ceramic Belfast shapes generally do not, and are paired instead with a separate draining board, grooves machined into the worktop, or a rack.

Which material should I choose?

Steel if you want the most forgiving and least demanding surface. Ceramic if the look matters most and the cabinetry can carry the weight. Igneous granite composite if you want colour and a quieter bowl without the weight of fireclay. All three are well represented here, which is the advantage of this range.
