Rangemaster put a twenty-five year guarantee on a good part of their sink range. That is not a marketing number, it is a company saying out loud how long they expect the thing to last, and it tells you more about the build than any amount of description.

Sinks first, and in every material

Sinks are the larger half of what Rangemaster make, and the range covers more ground than almost anyone else here. Stainless steel is the biggest part. Ceramic is unusually strong, with Belfast, Farmhouse and Fluted shapes in fireclay alongside inset ceramic bowls. And there is composite granite as well.

Igneous is the name to know here, and it is worth being clear about what it means. Igneous is Rangemaster's own branding for their granite composite, a blend of roughly eighty per cent quartz with acrylic, rather than a different material from the composite granite everyone else sells. It turns up on ranges like the Paragon, the Amethyst and the Oridian, and it carries the twenty-five year guarantee.

Belfast sinks and the farmhouse end of the range

If you want a butler or Belfast sink, this is one of the first places to look. Rangemaster make more of them than most, in single and double bowl versions, plain and fluted, in fireclay with a hard glaze that stays white for decades rather than years. They sit on their own base unit with the front face exposed, so the cabinetry has to be planned for them.

For a conventional worktop, the MultiMount sinks are designed to be fitted more than one way, so the same bowl can go inset from above or undermount beneath a solid surface. Keeping that decision open until the worktop is chosen removes one of the more annoying constraints in a kitchen project.

The taps

Smaller in number, and made to pair with the sinks. Mostly stainless steel and brass, in both modern single-lever and traditional twin-handle shapes, carrying a five-year guarantee. Choosing the tap from the same maker as the sink is the easy route to finishes that agree with each other.
